Texting to You
Male cards are normally quite difficult to make. My nephew was turning 18 and I decided that this rubber stamp Oliver Texting made by Lili of the Valley. He was coloured in using my Promarkers, fussy cut out and layered on to the black and tangerine background. That colour was selected as he is a Dundee United football supporter.
I am entering the card in the following challenge:
Passion for Promarkers Challenge 476 – Masculine Cards – It was then in the top 5.
I want to share a card with you that I had made for my husbands birthday today. The technique had been inspired by some Christmas Cards I had found on Pinterest made using watercolour painting.
Having never really done any painting (except at school) I looked on YouTube and found that I was fascinated by some of the videos showing how it was done. It was amazing to see pictures emerging by just using different brushes and paints.
Not really being an artist I made a few splodges on ARCHES Cold Pressed watercolour paper using my Stampin’ Up Inkpads. When the paper was dry, I cut into a square, made an outline frame using Spellbinder square dies with cream card, then used some Card-io stamps to stamp some branches and leaves to frame the picture. The Golfer was then cut out using Joanna Sheene golfer die, coloured in and glued on the front.
Hope you like it.
Card-io Golfer Birthday card
Today was one of those days that started off full of promise. Sun was shining, it was warm and there was no wind. (Always a problem in Carnoustie). Now the clouds have come over and the wind has picked up. So what can I do? Well best thing was to make a birthday card for my husband who is golfing mad. Using some of the Card-io stamps bought at a craft fair, I thought I could try the technique I watched them demonstrating. And tada – the card was made. I hope you like it.
Lili of the Valley LOTV
I don’t know about you, but I always find male cards a bit of a challenge. Lili of the Valley have a number of excellent stamps which can be used for a variety of age groups. My husband had asked me to make one for a friend of his who was turning 60. As he regularly played golf I thought I would use the LOTV golfer stamp. The theme red was chosen as he was also a Liverpool Football Club supporter. I don’t know about you, but if I make asked to make a card for a specific person, I try to find out what they like and personalise it.
As Lili of the Valley regularly have monthly Facebook challenges, I decided to try my luck and submitted this one to the Sporty Challenge
and lucky enough to be chosen as a winner.
