Blue is the colour

Blue is the Colour

I like blue. It is a colour which can be warm or cold. As I have recently had a birthday I wanted to make a number of thank you cards. This one was made using one ink – Blue Raspberry and stamped more than one in some areas. The stamp set use was Gina K Designs Painted Autumn. I just love this set which can be used all the time in so many ways.

I am entering the card in the following challenges:

Gina K Designs monthly mix challenge challenge- Flag it

Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge – Make your own background

The colour chose for the card is for the saltire the flag from my home country – Scotland

Today I would like to share a card made just for fun, which I thought could fit in to some of the card challenges out there.

This one was made using Gina K Designs Petals and Wings and layering on to the Fabulous Frame set. This was stamped, then cut out to fit on to the card. The insert was die cut and stamped with the sentiment Wishing you Sunshine and Love from the Petals and Wings stamp set.

To give an antique look, the base of the card was coloured using Distress Ink Vintage Photo, while the flowers were stamped in subtle colours to compliment the brown, then die cut and assembled on to the frame.

I would like to enter it in the Gina K Design June Monthly Mix Challenge – Vintage Floral

Happy birthday to you

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

Today a friend of my turned that age which you thought was old when you were young, but isn’t really that old. It is just your state of mind that makes you feel old – or your body fighting back!

I used the build a rose stamp set from Altenew. Colours were the Cherry Blossom ink set, but I have not yet got the final inner part of the rose right yet. All I can say is practice, practice, practice. For the leaves I used the Warm Grey ink set.

The background was made using a Sue Wilson die set which was expanded to fit the whole of the card (which was 5×7″) by cutting, moving, matching and cutting again. This technique allows you to get more use out of your dies. The lattice was layered onto a maroon coloured background to create a feeling of shade and bring the pink roses together.

I am also going to enter in the following challenges:

Beautiful Day plus some

Beautiful Day plus some

Inspired by the Altenew Challenge colours I knew that the blue would be perfect to use with my Parrot Paradise stamps. I decided to stamp the leaves with Ocean Waves, Dusk and Dark Knight then fussy cut. I have always looked at the parrot tail and see that as part of a layering with the rest of the leaves, so stamped with Ruby Red and cut out to add some more interest. The flowers were from the Beautiful Day set, and stamped with Sun Kissed, Orange Cream, Ruby Red and Autumn Blaze, and layered on to the fine frame cut out of red cardstock.

This card is being entered in the January 2019 Altenew Inspiration Challenge.
